MANILA, August 19, 2010—The president of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) and Tandag Bishop Nereo Odchimar will preside over the Eucharistic celebration that will be offered to mark the 33rd death anniversary of Fr. George J. Willmann, SJ.
With the KC priests and chaplains concelebrating, the Eucharistic celebration will be held at the San Agustin Church in Intramuros, Manila, at 7AM on September 14, 2010.
Officers and employees of KC Life and its subsidiaries and the officers and members of the Knights of the Columbus, especially of the Luzon Jurisdiction, are expected to attend the mass.
Fr. George J. Willmann is regarded as the Fr. Michael McGivney of the Philippines being the person responsible for spreading the Order of the Knights of Columbus throughout the country that now counts about 265,000 in active membership.
He is also the founded of KC Life, which is a mutual benefit association of the Knights of Columbus in the Philippines, and a foundation, now called Fr. Willmann Charities, that has already graduated over a hundred seminarians who became priests, and priests who have taken up further studies in various ecclesiastical disciplines.
The celebration will also be an occasion to raise funds for the Fr. George J. Willmann Charities.
“Whatever funds generated will be used to pursue our goal to help realize the beautification of Fr. Willmann and provide support to the charitable activities of the KC Fr. George J. Willmann Charities, Inc,” an officer of the Foundation said.
