This painting portrays Fr.George J.Willmann, S.J. holding the shoulder of a poor boy for Fr. Willmann had the heart for the poor and the young. His right hand holds a scroll with the writing “Ad Maiorem Dei Glorian” (for the Greater Glory of God), the motto of the Society of Jesus and for all of us who labor for excellence.
On his right is a seminarian reading a breviary with two books, the Holy Bible and the Summa Theologica of St.Thomas Aquinas. This brings the message of scholarship dedicated to him. On his left is a grieving widow holding a KCFAPI check. These two figures are assurances of two futures: the eternal life and the existential life. On the right of the canvas is a figure of a Brother Knight holding a banner which flows in changing color from golden yellow and white, the ecclestical flag, to the red and blue, the color of the Philippine flag, a flag of Fr. Willmann’s acquired citizenship.
Spread throughout the canvas are the four Corinthian pillars which represent the four cardinal principles of the Order of the Knights of Columbus: Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism. Hovering in the sky is dove, a symbol of the Holy Spirit, the Sanctifier. “Dove” in Latin is COLUMBA.
Unveiled during the Golden Jubilee Celebration of the Knights of Columbus Fraternal Association of the Philippines, Inc. on the 13th day of September, 2008 at the Fr. George J. Willmann S.J. Center.
